ESWT is a non-invasive treatment in which a device is used to pass acoustic shockwaves to create a therapeutic effect – Promote healing and reduce pain.

Shockwave therapy is a safe procedure. However possible side effects from treatment include:

  • Increased pain levels during and after treatment (normally for 24 hours)
  • Bruising
  • Skin reddening
  • Potential damage to blood vessels of nerves in area of treatment (low risk)
  • Tendon rupture (research suggests this is a very low risk)
