Symptoms of depression and anxiety are common in those who have Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia. Whether you have been recently diagnosed with these conditions or have had the symptoms for a long time it can be tough.

Some people report feeling overwhelmed having to manage their condition and attend medical appointments. Other’s report finding it difficult to adjust to changes within areas of their life to manage the symptoms of Chronic Fatigue or Fibromyalgia.

Vita Health Group are working alongside physical health professionals to provide better emotional and psychological support to patients with CFS and Fibromyalgia.

Treatments offered include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) which is effective at reducing symptoms of low mood, anxiety and other emotional problems.

The experience of breathlessness can be distressing and difficult to control, and this often leads to worry, panic, overthinking, avoidance, and withdrawal. Common signs and symptoms include:

  • Strong negative feelings towards Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia
  • Feeling alone and isolated with Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia
  • Avoiding or being unmotivated to follow treatment plan or self-management strategies
  • Uncertainty about health and the future
  • Difficulties to express needs to close others or health professionals

This book offers straightforward and specific expert advice, accompanied by real life stories, on managing different aspects of everyday life that can affect ME/CFS. Written by a healthcare professional and a person with M.E./CFS, they understand the way fatigue affects concentration and therefore break their guidance into easy-to-follow steps that can be worked through at the reader’s own pace.

Book: Coping Better With Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/Myalgic Encephalomyelitis: Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for CFS/ME (2009)

This book is written to help patients to develop and apply new insights into overcoming some of their specific symptoms as well as coping with ME/CFS, both during the course of their therapy and afterwards. It provides a structure and framework for understanding ME/CFS and its effects as well as practical approached to help address some of the symptoms.
