Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a chronic, relapsing and often lifelong disorder. Approximately 1 in 20 of us in the UK are affected by IBS.
IBS is characterised by a range of symptoms experienced within the digestive system, such as:
- Abdominal pain or discomfort
- A change in bowel habit
- Bloating and/or swelling of the stomach
- Flatulence
- Nausea
- Tiredness
With all this going on, it is understandable that there is a strong link between IBS symptoms and symptoms of stress, anxiety and/or low mood.
Experiencing these symptoms can understandably reduce a person’s quality of life. Please know that you are not alone, and we want to support you in taking the steps to manage your emotional wellbeing and physical health condition.
