Specialist Women’s Health Physiotherapy Service – Acupuncture for Fertility
• Are you trying to get pregnant?
• Do you have a history of irregular periods or heavy periods?
• Do you suffer from poly cystic ovaries syndrome?
• Do you suffer from endometriosis?
• Are you undergoing IVF treatment?
Research has shown that acupuncture increases the success rates for women having in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) by almost 50%. Studies show that acupuncture reduces stress and increases blood flow to the reproductive organs, which helps improve the success rate of IVF. Acupuncture can help improve uterine blood flow and stimulate ovulation for Poly Cystic Ovaries Syndrome (PCOS). Endometriosis can trigger an immune response preventing successful conception. Acupuncture can dampen this specific immune response, as well as reducing painful periods commonly associated with this condition. Acupuncture can also help men with low sperm count, poor morphology and slow motility.
Our women’s health physiotherapist has received specialist training in acupuncture for fertility. If you would like to contact our specialist directly, please email Sarah Cross.
