Ostenil plus is a Hyaluronic acid injection which is designed to help reduce pain caused by arthritis. Research shows Ostenil is very effective for patients with mild to moderate knee pain caused by osteoarthritis for between 4 and 12 months, and can also be used for a variety of arthritis related pains.
Ostenil is a solution containing sodium hyaluronate which is injected into the space in the joint. All joints contain synovial fluid and the sodium hyaluronate is designed to restore the balance of this synovial fluid. This procedure is known as ‘viscosupplementation’, and the effect of OSTENIL® means that it can decrease pain and stiffness and improve the other symptoms of osteoarthritis.
Studies confirm hyaluronic acid injections :
* reduce pain
* improve lubrication of joints
* improve shock absorption
* improve nutrition to joint surfaces
Therefore, the injections are a sustainable way for active patients to manage the effects or arthritis and wear and tear in their joints alongside continued strengthening and rehabilitation allowing them to continued their normal day to day activities without major side effects. The sodium hyaluronate in all versions of OSTENIL® injections is very pure and is manufactured using a process called fermentation. It contains no animal proteins, which means that it is very unlikely to cause an allergic reaction. OSTENIL® has been given to thousands of patients and has not been found to cause any serious side effects.
